Dale A. Horner

Dale A. Horner, 68, of Baraboo, passed away on Friday, Dec. 15, 2017 at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison.
Dale was born on Oct. 13, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Raymond and Florence (Mensch) Horner. Dale was a 1968 graduate of Davenport West High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving his country during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Black Beret Special Forces. After his honorable discharge, Dale returned to the states where he enrolled in Rock Island College and graduated with an Associate Degree.
Dale was employed at Alcoa Aluminum Can Manufacturing Company in Rock Island for over 10 years. He then moved to Oxford where he worked on the family farm. After the passing of his parents, Dale moved to Baraboo where he worked at Ho-Chunk Casino in the maintenance department.
In his spare time, Dale enjoyed the outdoors with hunting and fishing. He also was a civil war buff and enjoyed in participating in the civil war reinactments.
Survivors include his best friend, Debra Litscher; sister, Connie (Don) Sims and their children; and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Shultz.
Per Dale’s request, a memorial service honoring his life is being planned for a later date. The Rago-Baldwin Funeral Home, 520 East St., Baraboo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
