Arthur L. Gibson

Arthur L. Gibson, 92, of
Baraboo, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Jan. 8, 2018.
Arthur was born the son of Arthur R. and
Cora (Haskins) Gibson on May 25, 1925 in West Baraboo. He was a lifelong
resident of Baraboo.
Arthur was a Veteran of the United
States Navy proudly serving his country during World War II. On Aug. 21, 1946,
Arthur was united in marriage to Eulaine Hattle. She preceded him in death on
Feb. 9,
1991. He then married Lois Swiger on Jan. 25, 1992 and would
have been celebrating their 26 wedding anniversary this month.
After being honorably discharged from
the Navy, Arthur was employed as a butcher at the Baraboo Locker Company. In
1959, he went to work for Sunbeam Bread Company as a salesman. In 1969, he began
his 37 year career as a salesman for Holiday Wholesale in Wisconsin Dells
before retiring in 2005.
Arthur was a member of the Baraboo
Lodge #34 F. & A.M., the Baraboo American Legion Post 26, and lifelong
member of Emanuel United Methodist Church. He was always known for his sense of
humor, love of people, and always had a smile for all.
He had many, many friends and will be truly
missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Lois;
daughter, Julie (Dennis) Rose; step-daughter, Becky Swiger; step-sons, Darrell (Barbie)
Swiger, Larry Swiger, William (Dawn) Swiger and Mark Swiger. Also surviving are
his grandchildren, Christine (Micheal) Kenyon, Andrew (Nancy) Rose; and many
step-grandchildren, and great grandchildren, Emma and Sarah Kenyon, and Abigail
Rose.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. noon on Thursday,
Jan. 11, 2018 at Emanuel United Methodist Church, 101
14 th
St.,
Baraboo, with Pastor Blake Overlien and Pastor Bill Haskins officiating.
Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of
service. A Masonic service by the Baraboo Lodge #34 F. & A.M. will be held
at 11:45 a.m. Interment will take place in Walnut Hill Cemetery with military
honors provided by the Baraboo Veterans Honor Guard followed by a luncheon at
the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Arthur’s name can be made to
Emanuel United Methodist Church. The Rago-Baldwin Funeral Home, 520 East St.,
Baraboo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
