Ruth Louise Herrmenn

Ruth Louise Herrmann, 93, of Baraboo, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 at St. Clare Hospice House in Baraboo. Ruth was born Feb. 24, 1920 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Senator, George and Louise (Siedentopff) Hampel. She graduated from North Division High School in Milwaukee and attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. On Oct. 10, 1942 she married Lt. Max Wilhelm Herrmann in Topeka, Kan. After the war ended, they lived in Elkhorn, St. Paul, Minn., Hales Corners and Baraboo, and traveled to Venice, Fla. during the winter months of their retirement years. Ruth was the ultimate domestic engineer providing a thriving, loving home life for her family. Her outside interests included golf, square and ballroom dancing, reading, music, gardening, bridge, antiquing and her faith in God. She lived an abundant life with friends and family and will be cherished in our hearts forever. Ruth is survived by her beloved husband, Max; loving sons, Max III (Renee) and Jeffrey (Nan); grandchildren, Krista, Linnea (Chris) Mortensen, Stephanie; great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Ethan Mortensen; nieces, Emmy Lou (Herb) John, Roberta (John) Cerniglia, Louise (Lyle) Anderson; nephews, George Hampel Jr., Lance Hampel and John (Lynn) Hampel. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George Sr. (Wilma), Gordon (Elizabeth); sister-in-law, Martha Herrmann; and other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church, 416 Ash St., in Baraboo, with Pastor Lisa Taylor officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 12 p.m. noon until time of service. Private interment will take place in Lincoln Memorial-Wanderers Rest Cemetery, in Milwaukee. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the First Presbyterian Church are appreciated. The Rago-Baldwin Funeral Home, 520 East St., in Baraboo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
