Jeffrey Scott Vander Wegen

Jeffrey “Mr. Duck” Scott Vander Wegen, 59, of Baraboo, passed away at his residence on Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 with his loving wife, Jean “Mrs. Duck” by his side. Jeffrey was born on Nov. 27, 1953 in Madison, the son of Frank and Marion (Sorenson) Vander Wegen. He was a graduate of Madison East High School and of the Madison Area Technical College. Jeffrey was veteran of the United States Navy where he served his country during the Vietnam War from 1972 to 1976. In December of 1981, he married Cheryl Knight in Madison. She preceded him in death in February of 2005. He then married Jean Sutherland in September of 2007 in Baraboo. Jeffrey worked as a custodian for the State of Wisconsin for over 13 years. Most recently, he was employed as a banquet set-up specialist for the Ho-Chunk Casino for over four years. In his spare time, Jeffrey enjoyed watching old time movies, going for drives to Devil’s Lake, spending time with friends and family, especially the grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Jean of Baraboo; two sons, Adam (Dani Butler) Vander Wegen and Michael Vander Wegen, all of Madison; three grandchildren, Adam Jeffrey Vander Wegen, Amelia Lynn Vander Wegen, and Carter Jonathon Mistele; three brothers, Greg (Mary) Vander Wegen of Rio, Rick (Linda) Vander Wegen of Madison, and Steve (Millie) Vander Wegen of Janesville; mother-in-law; Sharon (Richard Adams) Weber of Edgar; step-daughter, Jennifer Fahel of Baraboo; step-son, John Stephens of Milltown; two Aunts, Donna of Monona and Elaine of Stoughton; and other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Jeffrey was preceded in death by his first wife; parents; and grandparents. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013 at the Rago-Baldwin Funeral Home, 520 East St., in Baraboo, with Deacon Tom Hale officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of services with military honors provided by the Baraboo Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family. The family would like thank Agrace HospiceCare for the exceptional attention given to Jeffrey during his illness.
