Kathleen "Kathy" Ann Blakeslee
March 26, 2019
Kathleen
“Kathy” Ann Blakeslee, 60, of Baraboo, passed away accidently on Friday, March
15, 2019 in the home she so meticulously designed and treasured. Kathy was born
on April 19, 1958 in Reedsburg, the daughter of the late Robert and Avis
(LaRue) Blakeslee. Kathy
graduated with a degree in Botany and Design from the University of Minnesota. She
and Joe were married in 2000. Soon thereafter they built their dream home in rural
Baraboo where she lovingly cultivated the rich earth and nurtured her
passionate interest in flowering plants and herbs. For 27 seasons she was a
vendor at the Madison Farmers Market. Until 2015, she and Joe spent the winters
in the San Francisco area, where she designed landscapes for many homeowners and
imparted her gardening expertise. Her other
passions were a deep appreciation for the environment and its preservation, and
preparing organic healthful cuisine. She dearly loved watching and nurturing
the numerous birds and small creatures that visited their many feeders. She
courageously battled Multiple Sclerosis which over many years progressively impaired
her gait, behaviors and cognitive abilities. Kathy will be greatly missed by
her friends, family and especially the love of her life, Joe. She
is survived by her devoted husband, Joe Veit of Baraboo; brothers, Douglas
(Linda), Steven (Luann) and Richard (Barbara) of Reedsburg; step-children,
Thomas McKay Veit, Mary Evelyn Veit and Robert Joseph Veit of California;
niece, Jessica (Brad) Williams; nephew, Derek (Lena) Blakeslee; step-niece,
Sarah (David) Milia; step-nephews, Gatlin (Sasha) Fenwick, Travis (Sarah)
Schreiber and Lucas (Barbara) Schreiber; several great-nieces and nephews.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents. A Celebration of Kathleen's life will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at Reedsburg Country Club, 3003 E. Main St., Reedsburg. Baldwin Funeral Services, 520 East
St Baraboo, is assisting the family with arrangements. May Amma bless her and
may she rest in peace.
