Douglas
“Doug” Charles Crago, 90, of Baraboo, died on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 after a
short battle with cancer. Doug
was born December 25, 1928 to John and Alia (Mead) Crago. He was raised by
foster parents, Carrie and Leon Fuhr after his parents died when he was five
years old. Doug
graduated from Delton Rural Agricultural School in 1945 and began a career as a
machinist. He married Myrna Rupno on January 26, 1962. They were married for 56
years and raised their family in New Berlin, WI. He held several positions
throughout his working life, the majority of years with Kearney and Trecker in
West Allis, WI. He was a firm believer in never quitting one job before you had
another. Doug was a dedicated family man, sometimes having two jobs to take
care of his family. He retired in 1989 and they moved to Sarasota, FL. They
then spent six years in Huntsville, AL. before moving to Baraboo, WI. in 2015.
He has been enjoying his retired life with his family and with his friends of
Oak Park Place. Doug
is survived by his wife, Myrna; daughters, Jane (Tim) Strausbaugh of Myakka
City, FL., Debbie (Gary) Radtke of Waukesha, WI., Sheri (Joe) Bell of Lake
Mills, WI., Penny (Allan) Tiedt of New Lisbon, WI., and Diane (Lamar) Richardson
of Huntsville, AL. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 16
great-grandchildren. In
addition to his parents, foster parents and in-laws, Doug is preceded in death
by his brother and sister-in-law, John and Beverly Crago; his sister and
brother-in-law, Dorothy and Gordon Buxton; two sons, Jeff and David Crago; and
a grandson, Doulgas Crago. A
Memorial service to celebrate Doug’s life will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday,
January 26, 2019 at Oak Park Place, 800 Waldo St., Baraboo, in the Big Top
Room, lower level. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of service at
3 p.m.
A
second Memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019
at the Robert Toale & Sons Funeral Home, Sarasota, FL. Visitation will be
from 2 p.m. until time of service at 2:30 p.m. Interment will take place in Palms
Memorial Park, Sarasota, FL. The family would like to
give a special thank you to all those at Oak Park Place who have shown such
kindness and love to both Myrna and Doug. Also, a thank you for the wonderful care
Doug received at St. Clare Hospice House.
