Rev. Howard A. Romberg

Rev. Howard A. Romberg, 90, of Baraboo passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at St. Clare Meadows Care Center with his loving family by his side. Howard was born on Aug. 25, 1927 in Bagley, Minnesota. He served in the United States Army Military Police. Following his honorable discharge, he attended business college for a semester and then felt God’s call into the ministry. Howard attended Western Bible College in Winnipeg and Eastern Pentecostal Bible College in Toronto. While in Winnipeg, he met the love of his life, Hazel Irene Currie and they were united in marriage on Sept. 20, 1950. Following graduation, they received their first church in Wildrose, North Dakota in 1951. Throughout the years Howard pastored several churches in North Dakota. After his retirement in 1992, they moved to Baraboo where Howard was active at One Life Assembly. He cherished all of the people and friendships that he established from the various parishes that he was associated with. Howard was an avid hunter and fisherman and always enjoyed the outdoors. While residing at St. Clare Meadows he could always be seen at the main entrance with a happy smile and hardy handshake. He was an ordained minister with the General Council of the Assemblies of God. Howard and his wife Hazel enjoyed quality time spent with their children and grandchildren. He will be truly missed by everyone who knew him. Survivors include a son, Lyndon (Carolyn) Romberg of Eagan, Minnesota; daughter, Sherri (Vince) Martens of Baraboo; five grandchildren, Miche’le Huybers, Jennifer Pederson, Jordan Romberg, Melissa and Timothy Martens; six great-grandchildren, Jamison Cortinas, Lane Ketterling, Riker Pederson, Noah Martens, Layla and Hans Romberg and other relatives and friends. Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel; and two infant granddaughters. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at One Life Assembly, 1000 11 th St., Baraboo, with Pastor Michael Dotson officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will take place in Walnut Hill Cemetery with military rites provided by the VFW Greenwood Memorial Post 987.  Howard’s family extends a special thank you to the staff at St. Clare Meadows Care Center for the wonderful care he received for the past 17 years. The Rago-Baldwin Funeral Home, 520 East St., Baraboo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
