Marilyn R. Cashman

Marilyn R. Cashman, 89, of Baraboo, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014 at her residence. Marilyn was born on Sept. 1, 1924 in Darlington, the daughter of Grover and Ellen (Thompson) Stahlnecker. She was a graduate of Darlington High School and attended St. Mary’s Nursing School in Madison where she received a degree in nursing. On Jan. 22, 1946 Marilyn was united in marriage to Robert L. Cashman. He preceded her in death in February of 1988. Marilyn began her nursing career at St. Clare Hospital in Monroe as a registered nurse. In 1965, she moved to Baraboo and was employed as a surgical nurse at St. Clare Hospital, Baraboo. Always a caring and compassionate person, Marilyn worked as a Home Health and Hospice Nurse after her retirement from St. Clare Hospital. She enjoyed her cats, gardening, boating, golfing, playing cards and visiting the Cashman cabin up north. Marilyn is survived by a sister-in-law, Joyce Stahlnecker of Darlington; a nephew, David (Robin) Stahlnecker of Darlington; three nieces, Kay (Anthony) Beardsley of Chippewa Falls, Jill Stahlnecker of Baraboo, and Jane (Mike) Hanrahan of Cincinnati, Ohio; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Marilyn was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Michael Cashman; a brother, J.N. Stahlnecker; and a niece, Gina Stahlnecker-Sanders. Private Funeral services will be held at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church, in Monroe, with Fr. Larry Bakke officiating. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, in Monroe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Clare Hospital Kidney Dialysis Unit, in Baraboo. The Rago-Baldwin Funeral Home, 520 East St., in Baraboo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
