Bruce Corbin Wimann, 62, of Baraboo, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 at St. Clare Hospice House after a battle with prostate cancer. Bruce was born on June 3, 1951 in Baraboo, the son of Fred “Sog” and Esther (Dale) Wimann. He was raised in Wisconsin Dells and graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School in 1969. On Feb. 22, 1992 Bruce married Theresa Danielson. Bruce attended UW-Stevens Point and was a graduate of Sun Prairie Diesel Driving School. Bruce was a truck driver and logged over 3 million miles during his career. He was a driver for Holiday Wholesale, H.O. Wolding Co., Gulf Northern and Del-Tool. He retired from Del-Tool after 19 years. Bruce was a Master Mason and member of the Baraboo Masonic Lodge #34 F&AM and served as Worshipful Master from 1999-2000. He was also a member of the Zor Shriners. He was a lifelong ELCA Lutheran belonging at times to Bethany Lutheran Church, Wisconsin Dells, and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Baraboo. In his spare time, Bruce was an avid reader and was known to have a collection of well over a thousand books on far-ranging and esoteric topics. He loved the poetry of Walt Whitman. He was a person who marched to his own drum and enjoyed life to its fullest. Bruce loved people and he never met a stranger. He had the gift of making everyone he met feel they were lifelong friends. Bruce is survived by the love of his life, Theresa of Baraboo; a sister, Cindy (Jim) Grey of Madison; a brother, David (Denise) Wimann of Janesville; two nephews, Dennis Wimann of Middleton and Dan Wimann of Janesville; a niece, Dayna Wimann; mother-in-law, Dianne Danielson; and brother-in-law, Robert (Anna) Danielson, all of Janesville. Also surviving are numerous cousins and many friends, especially the WDHS Class of 1969 and honorary members. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and father-in-law. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 727 8th St., in Baraboo, with Pastor Karen Hofstad officiating. Visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, 2014 at the Rago-Baldwin Funeral Home, 520 East St., in Baraboo, and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service. A Masonic service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Burn Center or St. Clare Hospice House. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Clare Hospice House and the Dean Care doctors for the wonderful care given to Bruce. They would also like to thank the dedicated friends and family who spent time visiting with Bruce and Theresa in the final days, providing support and love.
