Nancy E. Esser
Nancy E. Esser, age 73, of Baraboo, died on June 8, 2013 at Oak Park Place Assisted Living after a prolonged battle with Parkinson’s disease. Nancy was born to Joseph and Charlotte (Graves) McManamy on December 23, 1939 in Platteville. The family moved to Baraboo, and later to Reedsburg, where she graduated from Reedsburg High School in 1957. After High School, Nancy attended St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Madison, graduating in 1960 with a Registered Nurse degree. She then began her lifelong career in the medical field. While in Madison, she met her future husband, Gordon, and they were united in marriage on June 17, 1961 in Reedsburg. He preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 2012. Gordon and Nancy were blessed with three daughters, Debra, Wendy and Kelly. In 1973, they moved from Madison to Baraboo where they remained residents and devoted members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Nancy loved her vocation of nursing and served many in her capacity as an RN. She primarily dedicated her career, of over 45 years in the nursing field, to the State of Wisconsin Health Services. Following her retirement, Nancy continued to serving others in her local community at the Clarion Center of St. Clare Hospital, until health issues prevented her from doing so. She is survived by her three daughters, Debra (John) Peach of Mauston, Wendy (Jim) Jones of Lodi, Kelly (Donnie Ripley) Rodenschmit of Baraboo; five grandchildren, Tara (Josh) Mawbey, Gwen Peach, Justina Jones (finace’ Brandon Romo), Jameson Jones, and Roman Rodenschmit; two great-grandchildren, Lillian Mawbey and Jack Romo; three sisters, Charlotte McManamy of Killeen,Texas, Barbara (Bruce) Byrne of Haddonfield, NJ.; and Kathleen McManamy of Portage; a brother, Thomas (Faye) McManamy of Lavalle; and many nieces; nephews; cousins; brother-in-laws; sister-in-laws; other family and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Nancy was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Dallas R. Mawbey; and a half-brother, Joseph Jr. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 727 8th St., in Baraboo, with Pastor Karen Hofstad officiating. Visitation will take place from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the Rago-Baldwin Funeral Home, 520 East St., in Baraboo, and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Private interment will be held in Walnut Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that consideration be given to Home Health United Hospice or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
