Lucille W. (House) Thompson
Lucille W. (House) Thompson, age 93, of Baraboo, passed away on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 at St. Clare Meadows Care Center in Baraboo. Lucille was born on June 22, 1919 in Baraboo, the daughter of Earl and Elva (Borchers) House. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1938. On September 15, 1945, Lucille was united in marriage to Neil Thompson. She taught high school biology and math at Antigo High School, Madison East High School and Baraboo High School. Lucille was a proud member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and was an active member in a monthly book club. She served as president of the Baraboo Public Library Board and as treasurer of the Friends of the Campus, Inc. Lucille is survived by her son, Jerry (Mary) Thompson of Cross Plains; her daughter, Susan (Karl) Schmidt of West Bend; five grandchildren, Chris Thompson, Mike (Jodi Hemp) Thompson, Becca (Craig) Johnson, Jeff (Heidi) Schmidt, Katie (Brian) Gnadt; six great-grandchildren; two nieces; two nephews; and one great- niece. In addition to her husband and parents, Lucille was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Shirley House. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013 at the Rago-Baldwin Funeral Home, 520 East St., in Baraboo, with Pastor Lisa Taylor officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will take place in Walnut Hill Cemetery, in Baraboo. Memorials in Lucille’s name may be made to the Baraboo Public Library.
