Poynette - Ben Roe Barton, 74, of Poynette, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015 at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo. Ben was born on April 28, 1941 in Poynette, the son of Clive and Florence (Truan) Barton. On Nov. 14, 1959 he married Carol Ann Purdy in Portage. She preceded him in death on Nov. 2, 2010. Ben enjoyed tinkering with automobiles, attending stock-car races, doing crossword puzzles and fishing. He especially enjoyed being with family and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include three children, Vicki (Cory Schutz) Auck of Poynette, Todd (Tammy Taylor) Barton of New Lisbon, Hilbert “Leo” (Dawn) Barton of Reedsburg; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a sister, Loretta (Bill) McDonald of Baraboo; a brother, Gilbert (Charlotte) Barton of Baraboo; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Ben was preceded in death by a son, Ben Barton Jr.; daughter, Sheila Barton–Hughes; grandson, Jason Bertram; great-grandson, Harlee Peters; three sisters, Grace McInnis, MaryIda Barton and Betsy Weitzel; and a son-inlaw, LeRoy Auck. A celebration of life service will take place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015 at Trinity Baptist Church, 53205 Golf Course Rd., Reedsburg, with Pastor Michael Lopp officiating. Visitation will be at church one hour prior to services. The Rago-Baldwin Funeral Home, 520 East St., Baraboo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
